Partnering with the Filipino church



Gilmer went to Taiwan on a short-term trip with our church
Like any young person, Paul, was preparing for his future. For many in this country that means trying to apply for a job overseas in order to make better wages. He grew up in a Christian family, went to church, and was actively serving in his youth group. When he decided to join our short term missions trip to a muslim area here in Mindanao it was because he liked to travel, but soon his eyes were opened to a whole world he never knew existed. He came back from that trip changed. How could he be a Christian his whole life and not understand that there are so many who have never had a chance to even hear about Christ? What is his role in all this? What did God want to show him?

 We have heard from so many just like him. That’s why we are here. To teach, train, and send Filipinos. We believe that if the Filipino church can catch the vision of the Great Commission, and their role in it, then God is going to do some great things through them. He already is! 


“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written. “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
Romans 10:14-15


Another year and counting 


It’s been a great privilege to serve in the Philippines another year. It’s been filled with more work than we can handle but we praise God for sustaining us and sending others to partner with us in this work.
Aside from Gilmer being busy as the missions and evangelism pastor at our church, one of our highlights was that we were able to send two short term teams this summer. One to the muslim area here in Mindanao and one to Taiwan. We are also working on sending two units for full-time work going with PSC-SEND. One is going to Macedonia and one to Taiwan. There are a few more interested and are praying about full-time work, please pray with us as these prepare to go out. They have a big job ahead of them as they leave everything they know and go! 
On the home front… we are all doing well. The kids are growing, doing well in school and having fun in martial arts. Nhaya does karate and wushu (it’s like kick boxing) and Caleb and Josiah do Taekwondo. Luke is 4 years old now and can’t wait to be big enough to join his siblings at school.
If you could, please pray for good health. This year we seem to have had more issues than normal including, measles, pneumonia, Caleb broke his arm and had surgery, Gilmer was in the hospital for a few days for a strange sickness and my back is still causing a lot of trouble. We now know our pediatrician very well!

Summer highlights, God's overwhelming provision and exciting news...

"Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Ps. 46:10   What an astonishing command and reminder! Be still – in the midst of battle, stop, lay down your weapons, allow yourself to be weak, and let go. The past few months have been overwhelming, yet looking back, we can't help but marvel at how God made everything work. Had we insisted on our own way, it could have been a mess. TEAM 4:5 First, we want to thank you so much for all your prayers, encouragement, and financial support. We couldn’t have done this without your partnership.
