As a family we are doing good and are healthy. Praise the Lord for that. The Philippines is seeing a high spike of COVID again. That is specifically true in the north- Manila region. They are back to almost total lockdown and the hospitals are running out of space for patients. In fact, last week our ministry director, who is based in Manila, was diagnosed with COVID-19 and dengue fever at the same time. They went to 3-4 hospitals and could not find a place for him. It took a few days on a waiting list. Please pray for him, his name is Pastor James. In Davao city, where we live, it’s somewhat relaxed. Churches are starting to open up providing they only allow half capacity and all wear a mask and a face shield. So I have been preaching face to face and at the same time streaming it live for those who can’t come. Julie has continued her discipleship ministry with the ladies from our church. Their group meets sometimes face to face but mostly online. Mission mobilization is still going on despite all the restrictions. We continue to coach the Rubias from our church. They will be going to Thailand as career missionaries as soon as they get all their support. They just got done with their Member Orientation to SEND International. Thankfully they could complete it all online. We are excited for them. They are now close to 70% of their financial support. I continue to meet with the pastors in our city (mostly online) to prepare the ground for when things will open up. We also continue to mobilize through conducting mission seminars online.
Unfortunately our summer plans for short-term missions trips (TEAM 4:5) has had to be canceled again this year. Our kids are still not allowed to go out and we are still doing online classes with them. We praise God for the karate ministry of our church because we can at least get them out of the house for a couple of hours three days a week. Nhaya, in the US, is doing well with her college life. She just finished her first year at Grand Canyon University. Luke, our youngest, is the one who is affected the most. He does not like being stuck and having a hard time without interaction with kids his age. We have seen our kids struggle through this year and we’re hoping for a little break. Speaking of break, after much prayer and advice, we have decided to go back to the US for this summer. We will be leaving for the US May 19th and coming back to the Philippines July 15th. We usually go back to the US after four years but we really believe there are a lot of reasons for this short trip. If you want to know more please email us directly we would love to share more with you. |
