Padens in the Philippines

Zephaniah 3:17 Dear Friends, Here are some pictures from this summer. I wish I had more time to write but with the kids home all day these days I can't find much time to sit down and write. Things are going well here in Manila. We had a couple whole weeks of rain, which is hard for this Arizona girl to get use to! The kids will start school again in a couple weeks, Gilmer is hard at work recruiting and training, and I am holding down the fort! Thanks for your prayers and support. We love you all! This is some team members from our short term Baguio team, with the girls from the area, who spent three weeks in Mindanao on their missions trip. They worked with the kids in the area doing day camps, teaching "Values." They also worked with young people from the college that needed some tu...

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matt. 9:37-38 This team leaves Friday for Mindanao to help serve with fellow SEND missionaries. They return May 28th. Gilmer will accompany them down there and after they are settled he will make his way to some other functions in Mindanao. Please be in prayer with us for this team of young people who desire to serve God in this way. They are an encouragement to all of us working with PSC as we see some fruit for all the hard work during the last months. There is also another team going to Thailand that will leave on May 14th. Gilmer was at one of the Bible Schools/Seminaries here in Manila when one of the students came up to him. He asked him what PSC was all about, and Gilmer explained that we are a mission organization designed to send out Filipinos as missionaries all over the world. After talking for a while with him, since he was so excited about it, Gilmer asked him what he was studying and the guy said to be a missionary. The problem was that he had never even been on the mission field! You see that is what we are doing here in the Philippines. Our desire is to take young people on short term missions trips in order for them to have a chance not only to serve God during that trip, but to see if God might be calling "them" to be missionaries. In the States right now there are hundreds of options if you are wanting to go on a missions trip but here in the Philippines there are only a handful of organizations that offer this kind of opportunity. It’s been a while since we have been able to update our blog. Sorry about that! Things here in the Philippines have been very busy as we try to accomplish a little more everyday of the huge task ahead. That includes adjusting to life here, unpacking, traveling, school work, normal life things, and starting our ministry. Don’t worry though we are all doing well and God has been faithful to see us through this crazy time.
